This November, SmartRail Ecosystem heads again to Barcelona for Smart City Expo World Congress 2026, bringing with us a glimpse of how smarter, more connected and sustainable urban mobility could work in practice.

Experience Planner for Sustainable City Exploration

3 November | 16:40–16:55

Demo Sessions Sandbox, European Twinning & Citiverse Plaza Pavilion

Senior Scientist Olli Pihlajamaa, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, will showcase the SmartRail#3 demonstrator “Experience Planner for Sustainable City Exploration.”

The demonstrator explores how discovering a city can become part of the journey itself, helping connect mobility with places, experiences and more sustainable ways of getting around.

A Day in the Future City: Emma’s Journey Through Seamless, Sustainable Urban Mobility

5 November | 14:00–14:15

European Twinning & Citiverse Plaza Pavilion

Senior Scientist Toni Lusikka, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, takes the audience on Emma’s journey through a future city, showing what seamless and sustainable urban mobility could look like from the traveller’s point of view.

Rather than focusing on individual technologies, Emma’s story brings together the different elements of the SmartRail vision into one human-centred journey through the city.
