Agent-based transport modelling in Tampere: strategic scenarios and real-time operations

Join us for a 1-hour webinar to explore how the SmartRail#3 project is using advanced simulations and real-time data to support smarter transport planning and traffic management.

VTT presents Keko, a transport model of everyday travel in the Tampere region. Keko simulates the daily activities and trips of every resident, from where people live and work to how, when and by which route they travel. Built on open-source tools and validated against traffic counts and mobile-network data, it supports both short- and long-term scenarios: a new tram line or road pricing, changes in population or jobs, or shifts in the cost of travel.

Solita will showcase an adaptive traffic simulation developed in the SmartRail3 research project. Powered by real-time sensor data from Tampere’s traffic network, the solution enables the simulation of changing traffic conditions and the measurement of their impacts, currently with a focus on CO2 emissions. With extensibility supported by a GenAI-enabled agentic development environment, the solution creates new opportunities for faster innovation and more sustainable urban traffic planning.

Whether you work in transport planning, traffic management, smart city development, or sustainable mobility, this webinar offers practical examples of how simulation, data, and GenAI can support better decisions today while preparing cities for tomorrow.
